Giants not worried about Wilson's ego

The Giants pulled promising rookie RB David Wilson after he coughed up a fumble in the 24-17 loss to the Cowboys on opening night and never went to him again on offense. Head coach Tom Coughlin simply doesn’t tolerate fumbling, and he made sure the rookie knew that — during the game and afterward.

There appeared to be a moment where Wilson was crying after the fumble on the sideline, but he denied that was the case. Either way, you have to wonder about the psyche of a rookie who was benched in his first game, one that just happened to set broadcast records.

But we heard the Giants are not anywhere close to being worried about the rookie’s state of mind. They know he has to learn how to carry the football better — his technique was sloppy when Cowboys LB Sean Lee poked it out. They believe this is much more of a physical concern — getting him to change his grip — than a mental one.
