The Jaguars have added RB Maurice Jones-Drew to the roster, the club said Saturday.
Jones-Drew, the NFL's leading rusher in 2011, sat out the preseason and training camp in a contract dispute before returning to the club on Sunday. His contract was not altered by Jacksonville. The Jaguars used a short-term roster exemption for Jones-Drew this week.
The Jaguars released reserve RB Keith Tolston to make room for Jones-Drew.
The Jaguars' top backup running back, Rashad Jennings, is slated to start at head of Jones-Drew in Sunday's season opener at Minnesota.
