The Bears promoted RB Armando Allen from the practice squad on Saturday, the club announced.
Allen replaces Lorenzo Booker, who missed practice this week with a head injury, as the Bears' No. 3 running back. The Bears initially announced that Booker had been cut, but Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reported that the team said it has actually placed the veteran running back on injured reserve.
Allen, 23, played in two games for Chicago in 2011, rushing for 48 yards on 15 carries.
In another roster move, the Bears waived LB Patrick Trahan, who played in five games a season ago for Chicago.
