The Browns plan to have an “appropriate recognition” for former owner Art Modell, who died on Thursday. Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore after the 1995 season and has been considered a villain in Cleveland.
“We’re trying to strike the right balance,” Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis said Friday, according to The Associated Press. “We want to show respect and dignity for the Modell family, the community and the fans.”
Modell owned the Browns for 34 years before heading to Baltimore to start the Ravens, who won the Super Bowl following the 2001 season.
The league has requested that all teams observe a moment of silence before this week’s games.
