Cowboys TE Jason Witten has been listed as doubtful for Wednesday night’s NFL season opener against the Giants, and Giants WR Hakeem Nicks is questionable.
Witten suffered a lacerated spleen in the team’s preseason opener after a big hit from Raiders LB Rolando McClain, but Witten didn’t need surgery, which likely would have ended his season. Witten will still travel with the team to New York.
Nicks missed the Giants’ practices on Sunday and Monday as he continues his recovery from a fractured right foot suffered in May, but has told reporters he will play against the Cowboys.
Dallas has also ruled out DT Jay Ratliff (high ankle sprain), while CB Mike Jenkins is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury that has kept him out most of the summer.
The Giants’ listed OLT Will Beatty, LB Michael Boley, CB Jayron Hosley, DE/LB Mathias Kiwanuka, DE Adrian Tracy and RB Da’Rel Scott as questionable. Beatty is not expected to play, with backup Sean Locklear starting in his place.
