Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew won the rushing title last season, but he isn't even his club's Week One starter.

Head coach Mike Mularkey confirmed that Jones-Drew, who reported to the team this weekend after a lengthy holdout, will be the third-down back and that Rashad Jennings will start against the Vikings.

"I don't know the number of reps that he will play, but I would imagine that he will play, yes," Mularkey said.

Jones-Drew stayed away from the Jaguars for 38 days and had not even met Mularkey until this weekend. The 2011 rushing champ wanted the team to rip up the final two years of his five-year, $31 million contract and negotiate a new one.

That hasn't happened. New owner Shad Khan stood his ground on the matter and there is no talk about redoing the deal.

Jones-Drew says he has no regrets about the holdout, despite his demotion. It's not clear how long Jennings will remain ahead of Jones-Drew in the pecking order.

He was at the team's facility for about 12 hours on Sunday, getting acclimated with the new coaches and the offensive scheme, and saw work in both 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills in Monday's practice. So far, Mularkey says he liked what he saw.

"If you look at him physically, yes, I'd say he looks game ready," Mularkey said. "I have to see more than just an hour and a half practice."

Jones-Drew is expected to practice with pull pads on Wednesday.
