The Panthers announced Sunday that they have signed veteran DT Dwan Edwards and waived second-year DT Terrell McClain.
Edwards, a 6-3, 301-pound nine-year NFL veteran, was cut by the Bills on Friday. He has played 85 games with 45 starts during his career, which started when he was selected in the second round of the 2004 draft by the Ravens.
He played the past two seasons with Buffalo after playing his first six seasons in Baltimore. Edwards, 31, had 52 tackles and 2½ sacks last season.
McClain, a third-round pick in the 2011 draft out of South Florida, started all 12 games in which he played for Carolina last season. However, he failed to distinguish himself (19 tackles, one sack) despite getting lots of playing time along with fellow third-round DT Sione Fua.
