The Redskins released veteran RB Tim Hightower, according to The Washington Post.

Multiple reports indicate that the Redskins are in talks to acquire RB Steve Slaton from the Dolphins for WR Anthony Armstrong.

Hightower’s first season in Washington was cut short by an MCL and ACL injury. He had 84 carries for 321 yards in five games before the injury. He had 736 yards rushing the previous year with the Cardinals and had 10 rushing touchdowns for Arizona in 2008.

The Redskins have Evan Royster, Roy Helu and rookie Alfred Morris on their RB depth chart.
