The Bears released WR Rashied Davis on Wednesday, the veteran wideout told Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.
Davis did not practice Tuesday after suffering an undisclosed injury. He signed with the Bears in early August and was competing with second-year WR Dane Sanzenbacher for a roster spot.
Per the report, Davis felt “a little behind” after joining the team and only lined up as an outside receiver in exhibition games after being accustomed to playing in the slot.
Last season, Davis had four catches for 63 yards in 11 games for the Lions. He played for the Bears from 2005-10, standing out mostly on special teams. His best season came in ’08 when he had 35 catches for 445 yards and two touchdowns.
