Shortly after Vince Young indicated on Twitter Monday that he had been released by the Bills, the team confirmed the news.
Young, the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, tweeted “I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season. Respect Bills fans.”
The Bills' trade for ex-Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson Sunday night seemed to indicate that Young's time in Buffalo was coming to an end and the team proved that by releasing him Monday.
In extended playing time in the Bills' third preseason game against Pittsburgh, Young completed just 12-of-26 passes for 103 yards with two interceptions. Jackson will now be the top backup behind starter Ryan Fitzpatrick on the Bills' QB depth chart.
