Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey said at his press conference Monday that he expects Rashad Jennings will be the team's starting running back Week One.
"I expect Rashad [Jennings] will start, we'll just have to see," Mularkey said, according to the Florida Times-Union. According to Gene Frenette, Mularkey clarified that he wasn't ruling holdout Maurice Jones-Drew from being the starter against the Vikings.
However, Mularkey, who hasn't seen Jones-Drew in person yet, doesn't know what kind of physical condition MJD is in. According to Frenette, Jones-Drew, who has held out for 32 days now, can report as late as Sept. 3 and begin practice immediately.
Under that scenario, he would have a lot to do to show Mularkey he can start Week One, learning a new offense and proving he's in game shape in less than a week.
