The Lions announced Monday that they have placed RB Jahvid Best and CB Chris Greenwood on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
Best, whose career has been put on hold after suffering multiple concussions last season, will have to wait until after the sixth week of the regular season before he can begin practicing with the team. Greenwood, the team's fifth-round pick in April's draft, suffered a torn abdominal muscle in OTAs and has yet to be cleared for practice. He also will be eligible to return to the active roster after the sixth week of the season.
The Lions also placed OG Bill Nagy, whom they claimed on waivers from Dallas this preseason, and OT Jonathan Scott on injured reserve. Nagy had ankle surgery in mid-August and Scott, who signed with the team in July, missed the entire preseason with an undisclosed injury.
The team also released the following players: RB James Bryant, WR Dominique Curry, WR Jarett Dillard, PK Derek Dimke, RB Stephfon Green, S Sean Jones, S Isaac Madison, OG Jacques McClendon, OG J.C. Oram, DT Bobby Skinner and WR Terrence Toliver.
In addition, LB Slade Norris was waived/injured.
