The Bills placed third-year DT Torell Troup on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
Troup played in six games last season and made eight tackles before going on I.R. with a back injury that turned out to be a small fracture and a disk problem. He underwent spinal fusion surgery late in 2011.
Although he was able to practice for some of training camp, he complained of significant pain and was not able to practice enough to be counted on for the season.
As a rookie second-round draft pick in 2010, he played in 15 games with two starts and had 23 tackles.
The way we see it
Bills D-line coach Giff Smith told PFW last December that Troup’s upside “is tremendous,” but the UCF product hasn’t been able to stay healthy. The 2013 season likely will be Troup’s last chance to make an impact.
