The Bears announced Thursday that they have waived RB Kahlil Bell.
Bell, a fourth-year veteran, signed a one-year, $1.26 million tender as a restricted free agent this offseason and he was waived after refusing to take a pay cut, according to the Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure. Bell started three games last season and had a career-high 79 carries for 337 yards. He flashed, rushing for 121 yards vs. Green Bay last season, but he also coughed up the ball three times in his 13 games.
He had 16 carries for 47 yards in two preseason games this month.
With Bell out of the mix, Armando Allen and Lorenzo Booker are battling to become the Bears' No. 3 back behind Matt Forté and Michael Bush.
