"When my foot was facing the direction it wasn't supposed to be facing, I figured, yeah, OK. Something is wrong," McBean told WNST-1570, a Baltimore-based radio station. McBean, who signed with the team in early May, said he expects to be back to 100 percent by OTAs next year.

The procedure reportedly was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating professional athletes' foot and ankle injuries.

The 6-5, 305-pound had played for the Broncos the past three seasons. He was originally suspended for six games this season, along with Broncos LB D.J. Williams, for violating the league’s policy regarding performance-enhancing drugs. McBean filed suit, alleging that the league improperly handled his drug test. He dropped the suit in exchange for a reduced suspension to three games.

McBean was expected to back up Terrence Cody in Baltimore.
