Steelers LB James Harrison underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday morning, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Harrison’s agent, Bill Parise, told the Beaver County Times that Harrison “just has to get this irritation behind his kneecap cleared up. That’s what’s causing the swelling, and (the Steelers) want to get rid of that.”

Parise prefaced that by saying Harrison is “probably healthier now than he’s been in three years.”

Last season, Harrison missed four games after suffering a broken bone in his eye socket. Harrison has been on the team’s physically-unable-to-perform list during training camp.

Last season, Harrison had 59 tackles and nine sacks in 11 games. He has 58 career sacks and is a former Defensive Player of the Year.
