Former Pro Football Weekly columnist William N. Wallace died on Saturday in Norwalk, Conn. He was 88.

Wallace contributed to the first edition of Pro Football Weekly, which had a cover date of Sept. 17, 1967. His time with PFW spanned five different decades, and he spent a long period of that time sharing a page of the paper with fellow columnist Jerry Magee.

Wallace received the Dick McCann Memorial Award from the Pro Football Writers of America in 1986. Wallace was a former reporter for The New York Times. Here is his obituary in The Times.
