Bears MLB Brian Urlacher underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday, the club confirmed.
Per the Bears' official Twitter account, Urlacher underwent an "arthroscopic debridement procedure" and still hopes to play in the season opener against Indianapolis on Sept. 9.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune first reported that Urlacher had undergone surgery.
Urlacher has missed time because of the knee injury in training camp and was also away from the club for a time for personal reasons.
Urlacher, 34, has been the Bears' starting middle linebacker since 2000.
