Giants WR Hakeem Nicks has been activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list, the team announced Monday.
Nicks underwent foot surgery in May to repair a fractured a fifth metatarsal and has been rehabbing ever since. He cannot participate in a fully padded practice for three days, per league rules, but could be ready for full participation by the end of the week.
A fourth-year veteran, Nicks made 76 catches for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
The way we see it
This is obviously very encouraging news for the Giants, who have one of the league's top receiving tandems in Nicks and Victor Cruz. It appears he is on track to be ready for the Sept. 5 regular-season opener against the Cowboys.
