The Colts' linebacking corps took a big hit Sunday in the team's preseason opener vs. the Rams.
Head coach Chuck Pagano announced Monday that ILB Pat Angerer suffered a fractured foot and will undergo surgery to repair the injury. Angerer, a third-year veteran and starter, is expected to miss six weeks. He led the team with 146 tackles last season.
Pagano also said that LB Scott Lutrus, who appeared in four games with Indianapolis last season, tore his ACL and will be out for the entire season.
The way we see it
The good vibes following Andrew Luck's sensational preseason debut didn't last long in Indianapolis. The loss of Angerer, one of the club's few rising stars on defense, is a big blow. However, the decision to ship CB Kevin Thomas to the Eagles last week in exchange for a pair of 'backers, Moises Fokou and Greg Lloyd, suddenly looks even better.
