Packers LB Desmond Bishop needs surgery and his season is in jeopardy, head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Saturday night.
Bishop suffered a hamstring injury in the team’s preseason opener on Thursday. The sixth-year veteran had 115 tackles last season in 13 games.
McCarthy said the new injured reserve rule, which allows teams to bring one player back who was originally placed on injured reserve, could be an option for Bishop. That rule is waiting to be approved by the NFLPA.
RB James Starks has a turf toe and is "week-to-week," McCarthy said.
