A felony charge against Broncos DE Elvis Dumervil has been dropped, according to Vic Lombardi of CBS' Denver affiliate.
Dumervil was arrested in July and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm after a road rage incident in the South Beach area of Miami Beach, Fla.
A police report alleged that Dumervil and a friend flashed firearms at the occupants of another vehicle when traffic was at a standstill, but sources close to Dumervil told the Denver Post that Dumervil was not carrying a gun. A gun was found in the vehicle Dumervil was driving, according to the police report, but the sources close to Dumervil said the gun and the vehicle did not belong to him.
Dumervil, a two-time Pro Bowler, recorded 9½ sacks for the Broncos last season after missing all of the 2010 season due to injury.
