Sanya Richards-Ross won the gold medal in the women's 400 meters Sunday at the London Olympics.
The wife of Jaguars CB Aaron Ross edged the defending champion, Great Britain's Christine Ohuruogu for first place, finishing in a time of 49.55 seconds. Ohuruogu's time was 49.70.
This is the third Olympic gold medal for Richards-Ross, who won gold in the 4x400-meter relay in the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Games.
Ross, who signed with Jacksonville this offseason after playing his first five NFL seasons with the Giants, was given special permission by the Jaguars to miss a couple days of training camp in order to fly to London to support his wife in person.
