Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger disclosed Wednesday to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he has a partially torn rotator cuff, but he downplayed the injury.

"I'm good. It's OK, just sore. I have a little torn rotator cuff," Roethlisberger said. "That doesn't heal. We just have to hope it doesn't tear the rest of the way, according to Doc."

Roethlisberger, whom the Post-Gazette said was "laughing" as he talked of the idea of a complete tear, told the paper that he's cut down on his throwing.

"If you watch walk-throughs, I used to throw all the time. Now it's just backing off," Roethlisberger said, according to the Post-Gazette. "Now I don't ever throw during walk-throughs. It's less throwing; I think that's smart anyway. As you get older, you just need to take care of yourself whether you're hurt or not."

Roethlisberger, 30, is entering his 10th season as the Steelers' starting quarterback. He has started at least 12 regular-season games in his previous nine campaigns.

The way we see it
That Roethlisberger has indicated that the injury isn't especially serious is a positive for the Steelers, and it looks like managing the injury, per his comments to the Post-Gazette, will be key. Roethlisberger has played through various injuries throughout his career, and this is another ailment on that long list.
