Running back and receiver are two areas of worry once you get past the top of the Cowboys’ depth chart. DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones could be as solid a RB pair as there is in the NFL if they can stay healthy. Dez Bryant (maturity questions are an entirely different issue) and Miles Austin are a dangerous WR tandem; after that, it gets a little dicey. Can the Cowboys find or develop depth there? Do they have to look past the roster for help? The Cowboys think Phillip Tanner might be a decent No. 3 back, although he did little with his 24 touches a year ago. After that, rookie free agent Lance Dunbar is the best hope. At receiver, it’s a crowded mess, but things will be on the rise when fifth-rounder Danny Coale returns from a broken bone in his left foot. He looks like the kind of player who can compete for playing time as the No. 3 receiver and on special teams.
