Lions RB Jahvid Best has not been cleared for contact and he will begin training camp on the active/physically-unable-to-perform list.

Best joins OT Jonathan Scott and rookies CB Chris Greenwood and DE Ronnell Lewis on the active/PUP list. Rookie WR Ryan Broyles, who tore his ACL in his senior year at Oklahoma, is on the non-football injury list.

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said that Best “still had a hurdle to go” to be cleared for contact, according to the team’s website. He can come off the PUP list at any point before the regular season. Best played in only six games last season because of concussion issues.

Scott, who was signed this week, did not pass the conditioning test.
