The Chargers signed QB Kyle Boller to a one-year deal on Friday after backup QB Charlie Whitehurst got hurt in camp on Thursday.
Whitehurst sprained his MCL and is expected to be out around two weeks. Boller, who lives in the area, joins Philip Rivers and rookie Jarrett Lee as the quarterbacks in Chargers training camp.
A former first-round pick of the Ravens, Boller played in two games with one start last season for Oakland. He completed 15-of-28 passes and threw three interceptions.
