Buccaneers OLT Donald Penn strained a calf muscle while training, the team confirmed on Thursday. Penn arrived in Tampa a few days before training camp began to work on his injury.
Head coach Greg Schiano said Penn is “likely to be out a couple weeks.”
A seventh-year veteran, Penn has not missed a start in the last four seasons. He began his career with the Vikings but his first NFL game came in 2007 with the Bucs. He played in 16 games with 12 starts that season.
Penn was a Pro Bowler in 2010. PFW associate editor Dan Parr wrote last week that this is a pivotal season for Penn.
