Cardinals RB Beanie Wells and TE Jeff King will begin training camp on the active/physically-unable-to-perform list, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Tuesday.

“It doesn’t mean they won’t be practicing (Wednesday), or that they won’t be practicing in a couple of days,” Whisenhunt said, according to the team's website. “It’s a way to assess where they are physically, and then we’ll get them out there.”

Wells underwent knee surgery in the spring and missed OTAs. Playing through the injury last season, Wells rushed for a career-high 1,047 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games.

King (quadriceps) had 27 catches for 271 yards and three touchdowns last season. He has not missed a game since 2006.
