Falcons LB Lofa Tatupu will miss the entire 2012 season after suffering a pectoral injury during a workout.
“As you know, Lofa suffered a pectoral injury last week,” Falcons head coach Mike Smith said. “After further testing, it was determined that he would require a procedure to repair the injury and unfortunately he will miss the entire season.”
Tatupu did not play in 2011 after having double knee surgery in January ’11 and signed with Atlanta this past March. In his six seasons with the Seahawks from 2005-10, the three-time Pro Bowler made 549 tackles and 10 interceptions.
Second-year LB Akeem Dent is now the front-runner to start at middle linebacker. Click here to see Dan Parr’s story on Dent being ready for the starting role.
