The Chargers signed veteran DT Aubrayo Franklin to a one-year deal, the team announced Friday.
Franklin played in all 16 games with nine starts last season for the Saints. He had 17 tackles.
Franklin played for the 49ers from 2007-10, playing in every game but two in those four seasons. He began his career with the Ravens in 2003 and has 204 career tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles.
The way we see it
Franklin was one of the top free agents available and adds depth to San Diego's D-line, a group that lost Luis Castillo, who was released on Thursday. The Chargers have quietly added several veterans this offseason and Franklin should help the unit up front in stopping the run.
