Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday night in Oakland.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Lynch was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in Oakland and taken to Santa Rita Jail. He was cited and released.
Lynch has been scheduled for an Aug. 14 preliminary court appearance and on Wednesday, the Alameda County District Attorney confirmed that Lynch had been charged with DUI. The Seahawks said in a statement that they are "aware of the situation with Marshawn and still gathering information."
Lynch attended high school at Oakland Tech and college at Cal. He was in Oakland to award a scholarship through his Fam 1st Family Foundation, per the report.
In 2008, Lynch pleaded guilty to “failing to exercise due care toward a pedestrian” in Buffalo. In 2009, he was arrested on a weapons possession charge and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge. Roger Goodell suspended Lynch for the first three games of the 2009 season.
