In a radio interview Monday, UFA WR Plaxico Burress indicated Jets QB Mark Sanchez was dealing with shoulder issues last season.
Asked about Sanchez's arm strength in an interview with WFAN-AM in New York, Burress said: “He definitely has enough arm. He was battling some injuries last year shoulderwise that a lot of people didn’t know about.”
Sanchez started all 16 games for the Jets in 2011. He was on the injury report in Week Three with a right elbow ailment and in Weeks 12 and 16 with a neck injury. Sanchez threw for a career-best 3,474 yards and 26 TDs in 2011 but was also intercepted 18 times.
Burress caught 45 passes for 613 yards and eight TDs for the Jets a season ago but remains unsigned. The veteran wideout told WFAN that the presence of new backup QB Tim Tebow should help Sanchez.
“When you’re bringing somebody else behind you, I think it’ll push him a little bit, and I think he’ll turn the corner," Burress said.
