The Broncos signed PK Matt Prater to a four-year deal, the team announced Monday.
Prater originally received the franchise tag from the team back in March. Last season, he made 19-of-25 field-goal attempts with a long of 59 yards.
He also owns the highest field goal percentage form 50-plus yards in NFL history (minimum 10 attempts) — having made 12-of-16 (.750) career attempts in that range — and led the NFL in touchback percentage on kickoffs (47-of-67, 70.1 percent) in 2011.
Prater was key to the Broncos’ success, kicking four game-winning field goals last season. In his career, he has converted 78.4 percent of his FG attempts.
“Happy to announce we have signed kicker Matt Prater to a new four-year deal,” said John Elway, the team's executive VP of football operations. “This was the final piece in setting our roster for camp, and we are thrilled Matt is going to be a Bronco for a long time.”
