Kickoffs for the second game aired on CBS and FOX on Sundays during the regular season, on weeks in which those networks broadcast doubleheaders, will be moved from 4:15 p.m. to 4:25 p.m. ET, the NFL said Thursday.

The move comes with an eye on reducing “instances in which fans miss the end of a 1 p.m. ET game telecast because they must receive the opening kickoff of their home team’s late-afternoon game,” the league said.

The NFL added, “In addition, fans not in the cities of the late doubleheader opponents will be less likely to miss the beginning of the late doubleheader game.”

The start-time policy change does not affect late-afternoon games aired on CBS or FOX on weeks in which those networks don’t air a pair of games in a market. Those games will continue to start at 4:05 p.m. ET.
