The Lions signed former Buccaneers S Sean Jones to a one-year deal on Monday.
Jones started all 16 games for the Buccaneers over the past two seasons. In 2011, he notched 92 tackles, one sack, three passes defensed and one forced fumble.
Jones has been in the NFL since 2004. He spent five seasons with the Browns and played for the Eagles in 2009. In 107 career games (85 starts), Jones had 35 passes defensed and 17 interceptions.
The Lions are expected to have a competition to start at safety opposite Louis Delmas, and Jones can enter the battle with Amari Spievey and Erik Coleman.
