The Ravens have three dependable OL starters in ORT Michael Oher, ORG Marshal Yanda and C Matt Birk, but there are questions about the left side. Left guard is open after the departure of Ben Grubbs, an above-average starter. They appear to have strengthened their options there after agreeing with former Bengals OG Bobbie Williams on June 8. Williams primarily played on the right side in Cincinnati, but he most likely would figure in at left guard in Baltimore. Other options at the OLG spot are second-round pick Kelechi Osemele and second-year pro Jah Reid, with fourth-rounder Gino Gradkowski and Justin Boren, a 2011 undrafted free agent, other candidates.
At left tackle, Bryant McKinnie looks to be the favorite to retain his starting spot, but we hear his conditioning remains a concern. The club has wanted the 6-8, 360-pound McKinnie to lose some weight, and we’re told he looked a little slimmer at a recent OTA. If McKinnie plays well at left tackle, the Ravens can keep Oher on the right side, a positive for the line’s continuity.
