Arbitrator Shyam Das ruled in favor of the NFL and dismissed the NFLPA’s grievance in the bounty case, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Twitter.
Das heard arguments from the league and the players' union on May 16 on whether commissioner Roger Goodell had the ability to punish the players for actions the predated the new CBA, which was signed in August.
Goodell suspended Anthony Hargrove, Scott Fujita, Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith for their roles in the Saints’ bounty program from 2009-11. Each player has appealed.
Earlier this week, arbitrator Stephen Burbank ruled that Goodell did have the authority to discipline Fujita, Smith and Vilma, though he sought more information from the NFL on Hargrove's case.
