Bears GM Phil Emery revamped the team’s player personnel department on Tuesday, which included promoting Chris Ballard to director of pro scouting and Marty Barrett director of college scouting.

Ballard has been the Bears’ southwest area scout for the past 11 seasons. Barrett has been a scout for 17 years, focusing on the west region.

Dwayne Joseph and Kevin Turks will be assistant directors of pro scouting.

Overall, Emery expanded the department from 12 to 18 individuals.
