Seahawks OT Allen Barbre has been suspended four games for a violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday. He will have to serve that suspension during the first four weeks of the 2012 regular season. Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange first reported that Barbre had been suspended.
Barbre, set to enter his sixth season in the NFL, has played in 32 career games, with seven starts. He played in four games as a reserve for the Seahawks in 2011.
Expected to be a backup for Seattle this season, Barbre may have to battle for a roster spot in training camp. The team signed veteran OTs Alex Barron and Frank Omiyale this offseason.
