The 49ers agreed to a contract extension with All-Pro P Andy Lee, according to multiple reports.
Niners owner Jed York tweeted Wednesday morning that a 49ers All-Pro player was getting an extension, and Lee, whose contract was set to expire following the 2012 season, is expected to get the new deal.
Lee, a three-time Pro Bowler, set the NFL record for single-season net punting with an average of 44.0 yards last season. His gross punting average was tops in the league as well at 50.9 yards.
Raiders P Shane Lechler is currently the highest-paid punter and due $3.8 million in 2012. Lee’s deal is expected to be in Lechler’s ballpark. Lee shared the Pro Football Weekly Golden Toe Award with teammate PK David Akers for last season's performance.
