The Ravens have announced several changes in their front office, including the promotion of Eric DeCosta to assistant general manager.
DeCosta, who had been the team’s director of player personnel, had been considered as a possible candidate for the open GM jobs of the Rams, Bears, Colts and Raiders earlier in the offseason. However, he decided to stay in Baltimore, likely with the promise the promotion was coming.
He will now work very closely with GM Ozzie Newsome to oversee both the team’s college and pro scouting departments.
“When we extended Eric’s contract earlier this year, we changed his title to Assistant GM,” Newsome said in a statement. “As Eric continues to grow in the personnel department, he is becoming a vital part of the decision-making process.”
The team also announced that Joe Douglas has been elevated to national scout, and David Blackburn has been tabbed an area scout covering the Northwest, Southwest and Midwest.
