49ers rookie LB Darius Fleming tore his ACL during workouts, likely ending his 2012 season before it began. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, who confirmed the injury via Fleming’s agent, Andy Simms, first reported the news.
Fleming, a fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame, was hurt the day after he agreed to a four-year contract. The team has not made any statement on his status for the upcoming season, but ACL tears generally take 9-to-12 months of recovery time.
