Lions place RB Harrison on reserve/non-football injury list

The Lions placed RB Jerome Harrison on the reserve/non-football illness list on Tuesday. The move made room on the 90-man roster for S Sam Proctor and WR Wallace Miles, who tried out for the team at the rookie minicamp.

Harrison was going to be traded to the Eagles for RB Ronnie Brown, but Eagles doctors found a brain tumor, nullifying the trade. The trade may have saved Harrison’s life.

He had surgery to remove the tumor and is “progressing,” his agent Mitch Frankel said, according to the team’s website.

Last season, Harrison played in four games, rushing 14 times for 41 yards. His best season came in 2009 with the Browns, when he rushed for 862 yards and five touchdowns. He also had 220 receiving yards and two receiving TDs.
