The Bills signed QB Vince Young to a one-year deal on Friday.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Young’s deal is worth $2 million, with another $1 million in playing time bonuses.

Young worked out for the Bills last Wednesday, and the Buffalo was rumored to be interested last offseason before Young signed with the Eagles.

"We think adding Vince to our roster will create more competition for the backup quarterback position," said Bills GM Buddy Nix. "He brings with him some unique physical abilities that most are aware of and that will make the competition interesting. It’s all about improving our team."

In Philly last season, Young played in six games with three starts and completed 57.9 percent of his passes for four touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also had 18 carries for 79 yards.

Young will compete with Tyler Thigpen to be Ryan Fitzpatrick’s backup.

The way we see it

Young’s skill set is a good fit with Chan Gailey’s offense in Buffalo, and would be an upgrade as a backup over Thigpen. It was a surprise that the Bills did not draft a signalcaller, but GM Buddy Nix said the team would bring in another QB. Fitzpatrick struggled down the stretch last season, and Young provides a better insurance plan, and could even be used in certain packages.
