The Browns have reportedly agreed to terms with rookie LB James-Michael Johnson and FB Brad Smelley.
A fourth-round pick from Nevada, Johnson notched 100 tackles in his senior season for the Wolfpack. Johnson's agent, Scott Smith, announced the agreement on Twitter.
Smelley, a seventh-round selection from Alabama, caught 34-356-4 as a senior. News of his contract agreement was reported by multiple media outlets.
The way we see it
With Scott Fujita potentially to miss the first three games of the season because of a suspension stemming from the Saints' bounty scandal, Johnson could have an immediate chance to contribute, even if he doesn't start. Smelley will vie to stick on the roster as an H-back.
