After not finding a willing trading partner during the draft, the Texans have opted to release WR Jacoby Jones, the team announced Tuesday.
Jones’ production dipped last season after an impressive 2010 campaign. He had just 31 catches and two TDs a year ago, despite playing in all 16 games. For his career, the 27-year old has 127 receptions for 1,741 yards.
The Texans drafted two receivers — Ohio State’s DeVier Posey and Michigan State’s Keshawn Martin — in the first four rounds of last weekend’s draft. Both players should help ease the loss of Jones on the Houston depth chart.
