Just days after the draft has ended, the Chargers rookie class has already taken a hit.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, fifth-round OG Johnnie Troutman is expected miss the entire 2012 season after recently undergoing pectoral surgery. The newspaper says it was a pre-existing medical issue that the team was well aware of when they made the selection.
"We wanted the player," GM A.J. Smith said of Troutman.
Troutman suffered the injury in a pre-draft workout while bench-pressing at his hometown gym. A specialist performed the surgery, and a post-operation report was sent to all 32 NFL teams detailing the operation and recovery process.
The guard out of Penn State, who was selected with the 149th overall pick, also has a knee injury that will be examined.
