By ignoring the RB position in the draft, it looks like the Raiders are set with their depth at running back. Darren McFadden is the clear-cut No. 1 back, and it wouldn’t surprise observers if he saw a large majority of snaps, given his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and block, if necessary. Having been unable to re-sign Michael Bush in free agency, the team will go with a pair of unproven players as McFadden’s backups in Mike Goodson and Taiwan Jones. Both have elite speed and can be dynamic in specific roles, though we hear neither is ready to take on a full load were McFadden to go down with an injury. Goodson had fumbling problems early in his career that frustrated Carolina’s coaches, and Jones struggled to get going in his rookie season of 2011. FB Marcel Reece, an athletic player who can run, block and be spread out wide as a receiver, also will see a big role filling in for McFadden when necessary.
