After selecting quarterbacks with two of their first three selections in the NFL draft, the Redskins released a veteran signalcaller on Saturday.

John Beck, who started three games for Washington last season, was cut. The team drafted QBs Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins in the first and fourth rounds, respectively.

Griffin is expected to be the Redskins’ starting quarterback in 2012, with veteran Rex Grossman and Cousins behind him on the depth chart.

Beck, who threw two TDs and four interceptions during his time on the field last season, is now a free agent.
